In 1948 Adi (diminutive of Adolf) Dassler founds Adidas in Germany. The brand is at the service of technology and football champions, but also wants to reach the general public.
In 1963, Adidas manufactures a shoe adapted to tennis, sport then classified amateur, then baptize Stan Smith in reference to the champion of the discipline. White, the pair innovates with its leather ventilated by three rows of holes and its protection Achilles tendon.
Success is immediate. The tennis shoe entered fashion and became, in the 80s, a cult accessory of the hip-hop movement. To date, the model, enriched with a rising version, has sold more than 40 million copies!
